DALLAS — Dallas police, Dallas County Sheriff’s deputies and Texas state troopers pursued a stolen Dallas Fire-Rescue ambulance for nearly two hours Monday afternoon.

The rig was reportedly stolen from a fire station and a pursuit was already underway by about 1:30 p.m., according to NBC Dallas-Fort Worth. The suspect drove the rig through residential neighborhoods, rural roads and on the highway throughout the pursuit, at one point traveling in the direction of oncoming traffic on U.S. Highway 380.

Spikes strips were deployed in an effort to stop the rig. At about 2:55 p.m., the suspect got stuck while driving off the road and abandoned the rig, fleeing on foot. Law enforcement officers apprehended the suspect and took him into custody shortly after he abandoned the rig.

Aerial news footage shows the ambulance traveling through residential areas, weaving through traffic and speeding down the highway. Footage also shows the moments after the suspect was apprehended.
