W.Va.’s first female volunteer fire chief dies

Terry Sue Allen was a member of the Anmoore Fire Department for over 40 years

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — West Virginia’s first female volunteer fire chief died Feb. 7 surrounded by family after succumbing to a long-term illness.

Connect-Clarksburg reported that Terry Sue Allen, 69, was a member of the Anmoore Fire Department for over 40 years and was described as a chief who dedicated her life to the safety of the community.

“A great hearted person her whole life, it was a pleasure working with her,” Facebook user Chuck Feathers said.

A funeral was held for Allen with a procession that included fire trucks holding up an American flag as Allen was transported to the funeral home.
