GRANDVIEW, Mo. — With Thanksgiving fast approaching, Grandview firefighters and paramedics took to the spirit of giving.
The Grandview Fire Department collected donated food, ranging from canned goods and pasta to other non-perishable items, reported KMBC.
“As the fire department, we are part of the community, so we want to make sure that everybody is involved and knows that we’re here other than just for emergencies,” firefighter-paramedic Rodney Baldwin said.
The donations -- enough to fill up an entire ambulance -- were dropped off by firefighters and paramedics at the town’s assistance program center.
“A whole ambulance of food? Are you kidding? That’s just crazy because that stocks our shelves for a while,” Sharon Kinder, the program’s director, said. “This goes to low-income families … so we’re talking about individuals that don’t have enough to pay month-to-month bills, let alone, you know, food for their households.”
