SALT LAKE CITY — Officials say a fire union treasurer embezzled more than $120,000 over a three-year period.

An ongoing investigation recently revealed that over $120,000 in forged checked have been processed by the Salt Lake City Firefighters union, reported KSL.

The union’s treasurer, Joshua Diamond, served the union from January 2011 to April 2016; he has since resigned.

An audit prior to Diamond’s resignation found that there were multiple discrepancies in the union’s account. “For the past three years, it has been discovered that Joshua Diamond had been forging checks that were made payable to himself for reimbursements he was not entitled to,” read an unsealed search warrant Tuesday.

The current union president, so far, has discovered at least 45 forged checks and dozens of cashier’s checks, totalling more than $120,000.

Officials also reported on July 30, 2014, a direct transfer of $7,500 from the union’s account to Joshua Diamond’s account took place.
