LOS ANGELES — A movie based on the true story of female inmates who move to a fire camp is set to be produced.

Deadline reported that actress Margot Robbie is on board to produce “Firefighters,” a movie based on the New York Times article “The Incarcerated Women Who Fight California’s Wildfires.”

The film will tell the story of a dozen female prisoners who become inmate firefighters and form a bond as they battle deadly blazes with just three weeks of training.

The film will also be produced by Scott Budnick, who recently lobbied for California to hire formerly incarcerated men and women as firefighters, which resulted in the first program in the state’s history to train former inmates for firefighting careers.
