CLARK COUNTY, Ark. — A fire captain and his wife died Saturday morning in a car crash while out of town, according to police.
KATV reported that Captain Morgan “Marty” Lawrence and his wife, Jean, were driving on the highway when they were hit by a semi-truck, according to police.
The couple was visiting their son, who is a kicker at Henderson State University.
Lawrence started his career at the Tyler Fire Department in 1993, and was interim assistant chief for six months after Chief David Schlottach retired, according to CBS19.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Lawrence family and our fellow brothers at the Tyler Fire Department,” the Tyler Police Department said. “On the passing of Captain Morgan (Marty) Lawrence and wife Jean, who were killed in a car crash in Arkansas, our hearts are heavy and we stand by your side in this time of loss.”
