Veteran Houston firefighter dies in head-on vehicle crash

Officials said Jason D. Hamilton, 43, lost control of his vehicle and struck another vehicle

HOUSTON — An off-duty firefighter was killed in a head-on vehicle crash Friday afternoon.

Houston firefighter Jason D. Hamilton, 43, was one of two people who were killed in a vehicle crash.

Officials said Hamilton lost control of his vehicle and struck another vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle died; the passenger is in critical condition at the hospital, reported ABC13.

Hamilton served the department for 12 years; he worked as an engineer operator.

“The Houston Fire Department is deeply saddened by the death of our beloved brother Jason D Hamilton,” the department wrote on its Facebook page. “The Houston Fire Department is asking the citizens of Houston to keep the Hamilton family in their thoughts and prayers.

He leaves behind his wife and two sons.
