YORK, Pa. — The wives of two fallen firefighters filed a joint suit alleging wrongful death.

York Daily Record reported that Casey Flanscha and Allison Hoffman, the wives of Ivan Flanscha and Zachary Anthony, respectively, filed a joint wrongful death lawsuit against Carney Engineering Group and its president, Josh Carney.

The lawsuit claims that Flanscha and Anthony’s deaths were “caused directly and proximately by the negligent, careless, intentional and/or reckless conduct” by the defendants and said a “complete and adequate survey of the building to determine its structural integrity” was not conducted.

Flanscha and Anthony were both killed when a floor of the Weaver Piano building collapsed as they helped conduct a mop-up operation after a blaze.

The lawsuit also alleges that the defendants did not inform the fire department that the building was in danger of collapsing, and deemed it safe for firefighters to enter.

The lawsuit seeks survival action benefits of $50,000 of each count for each estate.
