Driver to face charges in crash that killed firefighter, 2 kids

The driver did not have a driver’s license and will be charged with negligent homicide when he recovers from his injuries

WYLIE, Texas — The driver involved in a head-on collision that killed Nevada (Texas) fire captain Peter Hacking and his two children will face criminal charges when he recovers from his injuries.

DFW CBS reported the driver did not have a driver’s license and will be charged with negligent homicide.

Capt. Hacking and two of his children, 4-year-old Ellie and 22-month-old Grayson, died at the scene after the van swerved and collided with their vehicle.

Fellow firefighters described Hacking as always smiling and ready with jokes.

“He was a great family man, that was first, family was first always and his fire department family,” firefighter Amy Cortez said.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Capt. Hacking’s wife with funeral arrangements and financial assistance.
