MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee firefighter is suspected of being drunk when he crashed a pickup truck into a minivan in West Allis, killing two men inside, West Allis police said Wednesday.

The 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and the case has been referred to the Milwaukee County district attorney’s office, according to West Allis police.

The victims of the crash were identified by police Wednesday as Yoruba E. Sly Lundasi, 64, of Milwaukee, and Wendell K. Johnson, 38, of Chicago.

Lundasi was the driver and Johnson was the passenger in the minivan when it was struck shortly after 5 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of S. 60th St., according to a news release from the West Allis Police Department.

The pickup truck was southbound on 60th St. when it hit the minivan before both vehicles struck a northbound car, according to the release.

The driver of the car and a passenger in the pickup truck were taken to a hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, according to police.

The Milwaukee Fire Department is conducting an internal investigation of the matter, according to a statement issued by the department Wednesday.
