LODD: Calif. fire capt. dies from brain aneurysm

Capt. Scott Carroll, 48, fell ill while working a duty shift

OXNARD, Calif. — A fire captain died Nov. 30 after suffering a fatal brain aneurysm.

The U.S. Fire Administration reported that Capt. Scott Carroll, 48, a 20-year fire service veteran with the Oxnard (Calif.) Fire Department, fell ill while working a duty shift on Nov. 28 that included a cookie fire and two EMS calls.

Capt. Carroll left the station to go to his personal physician’s office and later went home to rest. Two days later, he was found by his wife after suffering a fatal brain aneurysm.
