SALISBURY, N.C. — A firefighter who was scheduled to start a full-time position with a volunteer fire department died Wednesday night.
WNCN reported that Lt. Chris Phillips, with the Locke Township (N.C.) Volunteer Fire Department, died hours after responding to a fatal crash.
Lt. Phillips had also worked for the Churchland Volunteer Fire Department and Novant Health Rowan Medical Center, according to the report.
“Please keep members of Churchland, Locke Fire Departments and the Phillips family in your prayers,” Fire Chief Rusty Alexander posted on Facebook. “We lost a great fire service leader overnight.”
