SAN JOSE, Calif. — A suspect was identified and arrested after allegedly shooting two off-duty Oakland firefighters, killing one and injuring another.
ABC7 News reported that Oliver Junio shot two rookie firefighters Thursday. Jake Walter was killed while a group of firefighter attended a local festival.
“This is a safe neighborhood. Like I said, this is usually a nice event, well attended, family oriented, I see people walking their dogs here, so it seems to be a random act of violence,” San Jose Police Department Lt. Lisa Gannon said.
Junio was arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder.
The two firefighters graduated in April and had only been on the job a few months.
