CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The four Charlotte firefighters injured Thursday morning when their truck overturned were released from the hospital Friday and are recovering, authorities say.

The four were hurt when a Charlotte Fire Department truck overturned on Ardrey Kell Road at Bridgehampton Club Drive. That is west of U.S. 521, near the state line.

The incident remains under investigation by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police’s Major Crash Unit. A report on the crash has not been released.

Charlotte fire Capt. Mark Basnight said the crew was responding to an emergency at the time of the crash. Witnesses said the front of the truck caught fire shortly after it overturned, but a second truck responding to the emergency stopped and put out the flames.

Basnight described the firefighters’ injuries as “minor.”
