WASHINGTON — A D.C. firefighter was airlifted to a hospital after being struck by a ladder truck while crews operated at a building fire in Southwest Washington.
The District of Columbia Fire and EMS Department said the incident occurred on July 23 in the unit block of Galveston Street SW. Officials said a firefighter was struck by a department ladder truck while crews were operating at the scene and suffered serious injuries.

The firefighter was treated at the scene before being airlifted to a regional trauma center.
Officials did not report how the collision occurred or the specifics of the firefighter’s injuries.
