FDSOA, FireRescue1 primed to recognize outstanding fleet managers

Nominations for the FDSOA Fleet Manager of the Year Award are open through Dec. 1

FRISCO, Texas — FireRescue1 and the Fire Department Safety Officers Association have joined forces to recognize the exceptional work of personnel overseeing fire department apparatus through the FDSOA Fleet Manager of the Year Award.

The award will be presented on Jan. 14, 2026, during the opening ceremony of the FDSOA Health, Safety and Apparatus Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Jones & Bartlett Learning serves as the corporate sponsor for the award, and FireRescue1 serves as the media sponsor.

The Fleet Manager of the Year award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership and commitment to safety within the fire service, and more specifically, outstanding management skills, innovation in fleet operations, and a strong dedication to ensuring the safety and efficiency of fire department vehicles and equipment. Recipients of this award are leaders who inspire their teams, implement best practices, and contribute significantly to the overall effectiveness and readiness of their fire service fleet.

Positions eligible for the award include fire fleet managers, supervisors, directors or city fleet managers that encompass fire department apparatus and vehicles.

The nominee must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a member in good standing of state or local EVT association or NAFA Fleet Management Association or equivalent;
  • Have at least 3-5 years full-time employment as a fleet manager;
  • Nurture professionalism, diversity and customer service; and
  • Have achieved remarkable contributions for the betterment of the staff, shop equipment for safe work habits, along with a measurable improvement of significant and enduring benefit to your fire fleet and end users.

Nominations for Fleet Manager of the Year are open through Dec. 1. Nominate a deserving individual on the FDSOA website.
