FOSTORIA, Ohio — No damage estimate has been determined after a Thursday night fire at Morgan AM&T warehouse, the Fostoria Fire Department reported.

A firefighter suffered non-life threatening injuries during the fire and was treated and released at Fostoria Community Hospital.

Firefighters were notified about 10:22 p.m. that the north end of the building at 200 N. Town St. was filled with fire and heavy smoke. About four rows of product — carbon-based wrap — were burning, the department reported Friday.

The fire was brought under control quickly, but firefighters stayed at the warehouse until 5:28 a.m. Damage was limited to the product storage area.

Company personnel continued to monitor the material and the warehouse Friday.

The carbon-based wrap is “subject to high heat during production and is capable of holding heat for an extended period,” the Fire Department said.

The fire is considered accidental, according to the department, and was caused by moving the wrap into the storage area before it cooled.

More than 17,000 gallons of water were used to cool the material before it was removed from the warehouse to a nearby field, where additional water was needed to extinguish it, the department said.

Assistance was provided by Tiffin Fire & Rescue Division, Seneca County Emergency Management Agency and Seneca County Citizens Emergency Response Team.
