CHICAGO, Ill. — A fire in a four-story Rogers Park apartment left more than 50 people homeless Sunday.
No one was injured in the blaze that more than 100 firefighters battled in the 6600 block of North Newgard, a Chicago Fire Department spokesman said.
The Red Cross says it is offering shelter, food, clothing and mental health services to the 34 adults and 21 children who lived in the building.
Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the blaze.
In another fire Sunday, five Glenview firefighters were taken to Glenbrook Hospital for treatment of various injuries, including knee pain, back pain, exhaustion and dizziness, according to the Glenview Fire Department. The fire destroyed a 57-year-old building that housed maintenance equipment for the Glenview Park District.
Officials also are continuing to investigate the cause of a Saturday fire in Pilsen that killed a 3-year-old boy and seriously injured the boy’s father and 1-year-old sister.
