SPRINGDALE, Md. — The home of a family that was away at a funeral burned Saturday afternoon, injuring two firefighters who were battling the blaze.
NBC Washington reported that firefighters were called to the house fire around 1:30 p.m. The top two floors and roof were on fire when they arrived.
The house was unoccupied, because the woman who owned the home was attending her husband’s funeral. Fire officials said one firefighter was hospitalized with second- and third-degree burns to his neck and shoulders. A second firefighter was injured by an electrical shock, but has been released from the hospital.
Investigators have not determined a cause of the fire. The fire caused about $200,000 in damage.
