CARLSTADT, N.J. — Firefighters spend the overnight hours battling a blaze that tore through the main post office building in Carlstadt, New Jersey, early Thursday.

The fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. in an electrical supply store located above the post office on the second floor of the building on First Street.

More than 10 fire departments responded to the scene of the fire, which was brought under control around 4 a.m. No one was inside at the time. The fire was mostly contained to that top floor, which suffered heavy damage. Most of the damage at the post office was from all the water dumped on the fire.
