MT. LEBANON, Pa. — A fire inside a Mt. Lebanon apartment building late Saturday injured two people and displaced five families, Mt. Lebanon fire officials said.

Firefighters from Mt. Lebanon, Bethel Park, Dormont, Castle Shannon and Upper St. Clair responded shortly before midnight to the Baywood Avenue apartment complex, where flames, heavy smoke and water damaged the third-floor unit where the blaze began and five other apartments.

The injured were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and minor burns. The American Red Cross was assisting those who were displaced.

Fire officials said a cigarette may have started the blaze.
