Centreville, Ill.— Two volunteer firefighters were rushed to hospitals Saturday after falling ill while fighting a house fire in Centreville.
Crews were called to the 5900 block of Bond Avenue around 7:30 p.m.
At one point everyone had to be evacuated over concerns that the building would collapse. All firefighters made it out safely, though four of them were overcome by the heat. Afterwards, a Prairie Du Pont firefighter started feeling ill. She was taken to the hospital. A short time later, a Camp Jackson firefighter also became ill and was rushed to St. Louis University Hospital. Their conditions are not being released.
