The firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion after battling the high school blaze

CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. — Two firefighters suffered heat exhaustion  Wednesday after battling a roof fire at a high school.

The firefighters were transported to the hospital, reported the Northwest Herald

Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Christopher Olsen said the cause of the fire is still under investigation. “The fire was contained to the roof area. Right now, we don’t know what caused the fire. We’re still investigating that.”

Firefighter crews were rotated during the blaze, with temperatures reaching the 80s.

“We have a rehab area where the firefighters are being evaluated medically and able to get something to eat, something to drink,” Olsen said.
