GILMANTON, N.H. — A four-alarm fire on Hatch Road yesterday afternoon destroyed a large barn and antique cars and motorcycles that were stored inside.
Gilmanton Fire Chief K.G. Lockwood said a second alarm was quickly called for the 2:37 p.m fire at the Farrell property due to the 90-plus degree temperatures and high humidity.
He said the building was fully involved in flames when the first firefighters arrived at the scene and it collapsed soon afterward.
Lockwood said several firefighters suffered heat-related injuries, and two were transported by ambulance to Concord Hospital.
Firefighters were able to keep flames from spreading to a nearby house.
He said the cause of the fire is still undetermined.
