2 NJ firefighters trapped in basement fire, rescued after calling Mayday

WOODBRIDGE, N.J. — Two firefighters called a Mayday Wednesday morning after getting trapped while fighting a fire in a New Jersey home.

NBC New York reported that the firefighters were trapped in the basement of the house fire. The firefighters were walking down the steps to the basement, which was damaged extensively by the fire, when they fell, according to the report.

Both firefighters were taken to a hospital with injuries that are said to be non-life-threatening and are expected to recover, according to the report.
