AMARILLO, Texas — Authorities said two firefighters were transported to a local hospital Sunday after being hit by a car while working a blaze northeast of Amarillo.
The injuries weren’t considered life-threatening Sunday evening, Department of Public Safety Senior Trooper Chris Ray said.A firefighter was directing traffic while others battled a fire at 4401 N. Acres Drive about 3:45 p.m., Ray said, when a woman driving a black Chevrolet Impala got confused and struck the firefighter.
The woman got out of the vehicle to speak with officials, Ray said, and another firefighter then attempted to turn off the vehicle. For unknown reasons, Ray said the vehicle switched gears and struck another firefighter.
