3 firefighters injured, 1 critically, after battling Mo. house fire

The critically injured firefighter suffered second degree burns and was pulled from the fire by the chief, who suffered burns to his airway

NIAGUA, Mo. — A southwest Missouri firefighter is hospitalized in critical condition after sustaining severe burns.

A Springfield Fire Department spokesman says the firefighter with the Marshfield Fire Department was 1 of 3 who was injured Saturday night battling a blaze in Niagua. A second Marshfield firefighter was treated and released from an emergency room, while a third from Niagua was admitted to a hospital for observation.

No names have been released. The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
