CROWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. — Five firefighters were hurt while battling a fire at a funeral home Monday morning.
News12 reported that the injured firefighters were taken to a local hospital with one in serious condition.
The fire ripped through the ground floor of the three story building, causing four firefighters to suffer minor injuries caused by smoke inhalation, according to NY Post.
Another firefighter suffered serious injuries after being burned and suffering smoke inhalation.
The family that owns the funeral home lives on the upper floors of the burned building, and multiple Red Cross teams were sent to the scene to help the victims, according to the report.
Fire officials are investigating what started the blaze.
