5 Wisc. firefighters hurt in collapse

All occupants had already escaped safely; once firefighters entered, fire caused roof, ceiling to collapse, sending firefighters to hospital

EAU CLAIRE COUNTY, Wisc. — Five firefighters from Altoona Fire Department in Wisconsin were injured in a roof collapse on Sunday.

All five were able to escape but were sent to the hospital, according to WQOW.

Crews were dispatched to a house fire that started in the attic. All occupants had already escaped safely. Once firefighters entered, the fire caused the roof and ceiling to collapse.

The fire caused $400,000 in damage, and its cause is under investigation.
