PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Eight firefighters were taken to the hospital after being injured while fighting a vacant house fire Friday.
WPRI reported that the fire started on the first floor and spread to the roof. Seven firefighters were on the third floor when a ceiling collapsed, injuring several of them. The eighth firefighter suffered a hand laceration outside the home.
None of their injuries were life-threatening and all eight had been released from the hospital by Saturday morning, according to the report.
The fire remains under investigation and the occupied homes on both sides of the house did not suffer any damage.
