MOBILE, Ala. — A firefighter was treated for a shoulder injury Monday after he was hurt while moving something in a burning apartment, said a Mobile Fire-Rescue Department spokesman.
Around 12:10 p.m., firefighters were called to the Maison DeVille Apartments on Berwyn Drive South, said MFRD spokesman Steve Huffman. Four fire engines, one truck, two rescue vehicles and a district chief responded to the call.
Heavy smoke was coming from an upstairs apartment at the complex when firefighters arrived at the scene. They were met with “heavy fire,” as soon as they entered the residence, Huffman said.
