BOSTON — A two-alarm fire on Charles Street displaced five residents on Saturday night.
Smoke was visible outside 119 Charles St. as firefighters responded to the four-story brick building at 10 p.m. All of the building’s residents were evacuated and fire officials ordered a second alarm, as fire spread up the walls and ceilings of the first floor through the fourth floor, according to the Boston Fire Department.
The building is also houses a business on the basement level. Fire officials estimated the damage to the entire building to be around $1 million. The fire was contained to the one building, the fire department stated, because of the fire walls in place.
