DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. — A semi-truck fire on U.S. Highway 331 closed down a portion of the highway for several hours Wednesday morning as crews worked to extinguish the flames.
According to posts on the Walton County Fire Rescue and Walton County Sheriff’s Office Facebook pages, a Bud Light semi-truck caught fire in the southbound lane of U.S. 331 at Coy Burgess Loop. The DeFuniak Springs Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. The driver was not injured, according to the posts.
The Walton County Sheriff’s Office said that the roadway was back open as of about 12:15 p.m. They added that there were no injuries, but “the beer is a little watered down.”
The fire is believed to have been caused by a broken brake drum.
