SAN JOSE, Calif. — A small fire Friday is causing big problems for 10 residents, San Jose fire officials said.

They were displaced after a one-alarm blaze in a residence garage in the 2700 block of Eulalie Drive, Capt. Mike Van Elgort said.

No injuries were reported.

About 25 firefighters responded to a 3:36 p.m. call and contained the fire to the garage, which had been converted to a living space, Van Elgort said. They used three fire engines and two trucks to get the blaze under control by 3:57 p.m., he said.

The fire displaced the two families living at the residence, he said. Those four adults and six children are being assisted by the American Red Cross, he said.

Fire officials believe the blaze was an accident but it is still under investigation, Van Elgort said.
