WHITTIER, Calif. — A commercial building in unincorporated Whittier was destroyed by a three-alarm fire that broke out early Tuesday, authorities said.

Firefighters responded to the 15000 block of Leffingwell Road after receiving a call reporting the fire at 3:18, said Inspector Scott Miller, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“This is a strip mall fire. It started in the attic of the Laundromat, spread throughout the building,” Miller said. He added, “We did have a partial collapse of the structure.”
