HAWAIIAN GARDENS, Calif. — Deputies today sought information about a man who allegedly doused his girlfriend with flammable liquid and set her on fire in Hawaiian Gardens on New Years Day.
The woman remained in critical condition today with second and third degree burns across 60 percent of her body, according to deputies at the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.
The attack occurred at about 11 p.m. Saturday in the 11800 block of Civic Center Drive in Hawaiian Gardens, Sgt. Michael Thomas of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau said.
The suspect, whose name has not been released, remained at large today, Lt. Shane Robley of the sheriff’s Lakewood Station said.
Thomas would only describe the suspect as a Hispanic man. The sheriff’s Arson/Explosive Detail asked anyone who may have any information regarding the attack to call them at (323) 881-7500.
