BEIJING — A forest fire that burned in China’s northeast for 10 days was extinguished Wednesday after the government mobilized a 4,300-member firefighting team, the government announced.

Some 35 officers from the paramilitary armed police were injured while fighting the fire in the Galashan forest near Heihe, a city in Heilongjiang province, the official Xinhua News Agency said, citing the local fire headquarters.

The fire, blamed on lightning strikes, was extinguished at 4:20 a.m. on Wednesday (2020 GMT Tuesday), Xinhua said.

The report didn’t give any details of injuries suffered by police officers fighting the fire. It said they were transferred to Beijing for treatment.
