FDNY firefighters take in dog rescued in fire

The dog was left with nobody to care of it while his owner recovers in the hospital — until the warmhearted firefighters said they’ll take him home temporarily

NEW YORK — His firehouse nickname might be Smoky.

Brooklyn firefighters responding to a blaze Monday pulled two victims to safety: the overcome homeowner and this little dog. The singed pooch was plucked out of a burning house at Linden Blvd. near East 54th St.

The conflagration broke out just before 2 p.m., and the home’s only resident was sent to the hospital in serious but not life-threatening condition. That left the dazed dog with nobody to care for it — until the warmhearted firefighters said they’ll take him home temporarily.
