Fire destroys Ky. volunteer dept. trucks, equipment

The inside of the fire station also received heavy fire damage on the office side of the building

BLAINE, Ky. — A fire heavily damaged three fire trucks and destroyed firefighting equipment at a volunteer fire station Thursday morning.

Blaine Fire Chief Butch Smith said he does not know if the two engines and a tanker that were inside the station can be salvaged, according to WSAZ. The steering wheel and dash are melted on the engine that was parked closest to the station.

WSAZ reported that a small tanker, mini pumper and rescue truck belonging to the department were not damaged in the fire.

The inside of the fire station also received heavy fire damage on the office side of the building, according to the report.

There is no word on how the fire started and Chief Smith said nearby fire departments will handle Blaine calls in the near future.
