CIVIETOWN, N.C. — A Brunswick County firefighter lost his home to a fire overnight. Two firefighters were injured while battling the fire as well.
For 12 years Robert Prevatt has been fighting fires. For one year he’s been doing it right here in Civietown. “I was in my room and I seen flames so I looked out my window,” Prevatt said. Last night was different, though. It was his grandfather’s house.
“My grandson came out of the bedroom and said, ‘Grandpa, you gotta get out of the house, ‘cause the front porch is on fire,” said Robert Prevatt Sr. They still don’t quite know what happened. Prevatt Sr. says leaves underneath the front porch caught fire. By the time they realized it was engulfed, it was too late.
