KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A firefighter sustained minor injuries while battling a West Knoxville house fire Thursday.

Knoxville Fire Department Master Firefighter Pete Hayes was treated and released from the University of Tennessee Medical Center for a small burn on the back of his neck, said KFD Capt. D.J. Corcoran.

Firefighters responded at 11:26 a.m. to 3513 Peachwood Road, just off Pleasant Ridge Road, where they found flames burning through the roof, Corcoran said.

No one was home at the time and the fire was largely contained to the attic. Its cause is still under investigation.
