CINCINNATI — Cincinnati firefighters jumped into action to save people from a burning apartment building in Avondale early Thursday morning.

Dispatchers received a call reporting the fire just after 1 a.m. at 67 Glenwood Avenue. When fire crews arrived, people were literally hanging out of the windows on the second floor as they tried to escape.

Firefighters say the people in the apartments thought it safer to stay in their apartment rather than risk escaping down the stairs while not knowing how extensive the fire and smoke might be.
