Firefighters rescue, resuscitate man with burns on 70 percent of his body

Firefighters found the unresponsive man in his burning apartment; firefighters contained the blaze to just one apartment

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — A 20-year-old man who suffered burns over more than 70 percent of his body is fighting for his life after firefighters pulled him from a burning apartment.

The fire was reported Wednesday night. Three firefighter/paramedics pulled the man out of the apartment and were able to resuscitate the man after he was found unresponsive, according to the Daily News.

The unidentified man was hospitalized with second- and third-degree burns over more than 70 percent of his body, a LAFD official said.

37 firefighters were able to knock down the blaze in less than 18 minutes, confining the flames to just the single apartment.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
