PARAMOUNT, Calif. — Los Angeles County firefighters have controlled an intense fire in commercial building.

The Fire Department says there are no injuries in the Monday morning blaze in the city of Paramount.

Firefighters were called to the one-story building at 7:58 a.m. and a second alarm was called after the first engines arrived. About half the 75-by-300-foot building was gutted.

Fire Inspector Brian Riley says more than 100 firefighters extinguished the flames just before 9 a.m., although some materials were smoldering inside the building.

Property records show the tenant is a packaging materials firm.
