IOWA CITY, Iowa — At 11:35 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7th, The Iowa City Fire Department responded to a report of a working structure fire at 2401 Highway 6 East, the Dolphin Lake Point Enclave.
ICFD Engine 3 arrived quickly; the officer confirmed a working structure fire and reported that two occupants were visible in a second-floor window.
With other ICFD units still responding, firefighters from Engine 3 reacted quickly by placing a ladder to the second-story and rescuing the two occupants.
A third occupant escaped the apartment without assistance.
Other ICFD units arrived on scene quickly and successfully brought the fire under control.
The fire was contained to the room of origin and was extinguished in approximately 30 minutes.
This fire resulted in no injuries to civilians or firefighters. A total of 13 firefighters responded on three engines, one ladder truck, and one command vehicle.
ICFD operations were supported by the Johnson County Ambulance Service, Iowa City Police Department, and the American Red Cross.
Damage to the structure and contents is estimated at $10,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Iowa City Fire Department.
