TRUMANN, Ark. — A fire chief died Tuesday afternoon after suffering a massive heart attack while battling a house fire.
KAIT8 reported that Chief Rick Winkles, 53, with the Trumann Fire Department, died at the hospital after suffering a heart attack while on call. Chief Winkles was a few months shy of being on the department for 28 years and planned to retire soon, according to the report.
The house was a total loss and fire officials say it started from an accidental grass fire, according to the report. No residents were injured in the fire.
