THORNDIKE, Maine — Maine fire officials say a man was hospitalized after he threatened firefighters and tried to prevent them from putting out a fire in a shed behind his Thorndike home.

No firefighters were injured after they responded to the fire Saturday morning.

Sgt. Ken Grimes of the state fire marshal’s office told WMTW there are some “unusual circumstances” about the fire.

Firefighters said the man became physical and had to be restrained. He was taken to a Bangor hospital.

Officials did not release the homeowner’s name.

The investigation by the state fire marshal’s office and the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office is ongoing.
