MILTON, Mass. — Two people were rescued today after a three-alarm blaze broke out at a home on Elliot Street in Milton and firefighters had to use a ladder to rescue one man trapped at a third-floor window and braved the flames to carry a second person out of the home.
“When I showed up there was heavy fire on the second floor extending to the third,” said Deputy Fire Chief John Foley. “A young male, looked like he was in his 20s, was hanging out of the third floor window enveloped in smoke.”
Firefighters rescued that man with the help of a ladder and carried another unidentified victim out of the house down a rear stairway after getting the emergency call at 10:04 a.m. Firefighters encountered “extremely adverse” conditions, said Foley, with heavy heat, smoke and fire.
