BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Two firefighters were injured when they fell out of the second floor of a burning Bethlehem home Thursday morning, according to police radio reports.

The fire began around 9:45 a.m. at a home in the 1600 block of East Eighth Street. Several power lines were knocked down and the flames were spreading to an adjoining building, scanner reports state.

According to a police radio report, two firefighters fell out of the second floor of the home while battling the blaze. All the residents were able to safely escape, fire crews said.

Medical crews said one firefighter, a 29-year-old man, had an ankle injury after bailing out of the burning building, according to scanner reports.

The fire sent a large plume of black smoke in the sky visible for several miles and crews said several homes were involved.
