CHICAGO — A firefighter is in critical but stable condition after collapsing at the scene of a fire Saturday morning.
Chicago Sun Times reported that crews were called to the extra-alarm fire in a neighborhood on the Southwest Side. The firefighter, who was on the second floor, was complaining of being short of breath. He was found on the ground inside the building.
A mayday was requested and the firefighter was removed from the building. He received a small laceration on his head while being removed, Firefighter Close Calls reported. He was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition.
A second firefighter, who was also injured in the fire, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
